My name is Garrison Hayes, and my hope for racial justice over the next 85 years is twofold. First, I hope to see a growing diverse coalition of folks who are deeply committed to a true multiracial democracy. This hope demands an unapologetic belief in the worth and humanity of Black people, specifically and all citizens more broadly. Second, as Dr. King once said, "Those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war." The success of this fight for racial justice will depend upon an organized, disciplined front, one that is just as capable and formidable as the legendary leaders of LDF's past and present. From Constance Baker Motley and Thurgood Marshall to Janai Nelson and beyond.
